"Herb has played all the famous venues
of New Orleans..."

Jazz and Blues master Louis Armstrong left a legacy beyond most of his contemporaries. Known as the great "Satchmo", Armstrong's musical genius, distinctive style, famously infectious smile and unmistakable vocals earned him a unique place in history with a string of timeless hits, collaborations with a who's who of musical legends, and resulted in a career that spanned five decades and helped to define the evolving genres of jazz, blues and swing.

We all know "What a Wonderful World"...

The year was 1965, but in an echo of that magic there is a new voice that brings back the melodic serendipity of the great man's gravel-bass vocals, heart-rending optimism and so much more... that man is Herb Armstrong.

"Hollywood" Herb, grandson of the late great Louis, has made it his life's work to follow in the footsteps of his family namesake. Those footsteps have led the legend and the legacy to Australia!

Born in New Orleans, Herb's first memories are of his grandfather Louis practicing with his band. Growing up and spending his first 20 years around Bourbon St, Herb naturally displayed and developed his talents of street performance, comedy and singing. Like his famous grandfather, Herb has played all the famous venues of New Orleans, including The Bourbon St Blues Bar, Famous Door, The Krazy Korner and The Cats Meow as well as performing at Superbowls, Olympic ceremonies, Hollywood conventions and Las Vegas showrooms just to name a few.

"Herb has completely wowed the local entertainment scene with his performances and his band..."

Herb has sung with the likes of Bobby Womack and Missy Elliott, and for his last 5 years in New Orleans, was the opening act for the New Orleans own Neville Brothers Show at the famous Tipitina's.

Herb's connection to Australia began in 1999 when he met his wife and began a love affair which was to transform both their lives!

Since his arrival Herb has completely wowed the local entertainment scene with his performances and his band, the Royal Sreet. Krewe. The show, "A Night In New Orleans", showcases the rich musical heritage of New Orleans. Herb and the Krewe will have you up and dancing from the opening bars!
Herb's individual style brings a fresh sound to the timeless traditions of jazz, blues and swing.

" Once again the 4th of July was another cracker. A full house enjoyed Herb Armstrong and his hot band The Royal Street Krewe. The band started with West End Blues and the trumpet work by Brad Esbensen was superb. Herb came onto the stage and the place began to jump.He brought out all the classic standards and a few later ones as well. Nobody left the jazz club unhappy. A great night was had by all. Don’t miss him next time."

"...talk about stage presence. Herb had the audience eating out of his hand the night we caught him in the Blues Tent - he seemed hugely disappointed at the end when he wasn't allowed to proceed with the encore due to time constraints."
J. Wynter, Woodford Folk Festival

"Never danced before? Herb Armstrong, New Orleans-born Entertainer, will have you jitterbugging like crazy before the night's out!"
