Welcome to my big band arrangements catalogue. All of the arrangements listed on this page have been written for standard big band instrumentation (5 saxes, 5 trumpets, 5 trombones, 4 rhythm) and are graded into three levels: Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced.

BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY

Intermediate - Advanced Level

This arrangement of "Bohemian Rhapsody", as recorded by Queen, makes a great feature for the Guitarist. If no guitarist is available, the solo is cued in the 1st Tenor Sax part. The solo is fully notated in an attempt to reproduce Brian May's classic solo.

Although the chart is fairly straight forward, a number of tempo, metre and style changes will provide challenges for the ensemble. In addition to the Guitarist, short solo spots throughout the chart provide some feature space for the 1st Alto Sax, 2nd Trumpet, 1st Trombone and Piano players.

Set piece for Music Fest 2007 presented by Prestige Music, Jiants of Jazz division.

This arrangement opens with a rubato, chorale style setting of the first 16 measures of the theme. This section leads into a Bright Swing tempo that is then maintained for the remainder of the arrangement..

There is plenty of work for all sections in the ensemble throughout the chart with a whole chorus of saxophone soli and a couple of ensemble shout choruses. Solo space is provided to feature the 1st Trombone, Flugelhorn and Piano players.

This arrangement won 1st place in the 1994 Perth Jazz Orchestra Composition Awards and is sure to become a challenging favourite for your ensemble!

	RUBY MY DEAR
	Music by Thelonious Monk Intermediate Level
	This arrangement of Monk's ballad features Flugelhorn and Alto Sax soloists. The arrangement is fairly straightforward with a short introduction, the melody stated by the 4th Flugel in the first chorus and then by the ensemble in the second chorus. The bridge of the second chorus has space for an improvised solo from the 1st Alto Sax. There are a few chords in the piece that are unusual and will present a challenge to the ear (e.g. chords such as E9(add11) and Cmi7(add ma7)). The piano part, which is quite challenging, has been fully notated but may be freely interpreted by the more experienced player.
